Model 228
The Model 228 has inspired us for years. It has graced the biggest stages and finest studios in the world, and has won acclaim from some of the world's finest musicians as well as numerous industry awards (Premier Guitar's Year End Gear Award and Guitar Player Magazine's Editors' Pick Award).
The 228 uses the finest materials and offers unparalleled build quality. We tune each 228 to provide the musician with the maximum expressiveness and sound from this masterful design.
We build 228s in swamp ash and alder. Necks are one piece maple, with the option of a rosewood fretboard. Frets are generally 6105. We outfit the 228 the Hahn cold rolled steel bridge which can either topload or run the strings thru-body. We also make the compensated brass saddles, stainless steel neckplate (.10" thick) and stainless body ferrules. Gotoh/Kluson tuners are used, as well as bone nuts, CRL switches, CTS pots and Orange Drop capacitors. Wiring is vintage cloth push back. Finally, the 228, like all Hahn guitars, is finished in roughly 25 coats of nitrocellulose lacquer with a total finish thickness of approximately .004".
